Balancing Theory & Applications

Our Balancing Theory and Applications seminar  has become a very popular program because it provides an excellent combination of universal balancing theory and practical hands-on training. Regardless of your background or previous experience, this program will expand your understanding of the balancing process and improve your balancing skills.

We begin by developing a basic understanding of the balancing process. You'll learn the design principles of different balancing machines, how to use instrumentation and different tooling applications. You'll also learn balancing theory including the various types of unbalance, methods of correction and measurements of unbalance. Demonstrations and hands-on exercises will give you an opportunity to practice the skills you've learned.

Other topics include:

The different types of unbalance (static, dynamic & couple)
ISO tolerances and terminology
The design principles of hard and soft bearing machines
The theory of unbalance measurement and correction
Principles of tool design and avoiding tooling errors
Unbalance vs. centrifugal force (force determination in English and metric systems)
Correlation of unbalance and displacement of C.G.
Causes of unbalance errors
Selecting proper unbalance tolerances and balancing speed
Rigid and flexible rotors defined
Plane separation
Introduction to flexible rotors
Balancing machine testing
Introduction to field balancing

Certification:
Level II-Balancing Technician

Who should attend:

This course is of interest to balancing machine operators, supervisors, process and manufacturing engineers involved in the balancing process. Quality assurance and inspection personnel will also benefit. A mechanical background with an emphasis on rotating equipment and precision measurements is recommended but not required.

Calculators are recommended
