Balancing torque converters can be challenging because of
the assembly’s internal moving parts, and the fact that it
is often balanced with fluid in the converter. Schenck’s
torque converter balancers use the 180˚ Indexing Method to
provide superior measuring accuracy. The 180˚ Indexing
Method measures the converter’s unbalance with fluid and the
inner running at the same speed as the outer. The inner is
rotated 180˚ from the outer, and the unbalance is measured
again. From these two measurements the instrumentation is
able to calculate the unbalance measurement.
