Schenck Machines for Connecting Rods

Con Rod Scales
Schenck’s Connecting Rod Scales offer precise measurement, high repeatability and a large weight range for determining the rotating and oscillating component of a Con Rods weight for cars, trucks and other combustion engines. Scales are used in development, inspection and production (checking) applications for measurement of the actual weight, deviation from master, and the classification of partial weights. Units can also be used with a grinding or milling unit for small volume production.

Other features include:
• Maintenance free electronics with a large non-reflective 7 segment digital display.
• Fast, easy change-over to other con-rod types with locating shafts and adjustable, or interchangeable adapter frames
• Robust design with overload protection
• Easy operation and change-over
• RS232 interface for connection to printer or computer.
• Data input and classification modules to evaluate and store up to 200 con rod types

Con Rod Weight Mill Machines
Schenck’s Weight Mill Machines measure the rotating and oscillating component of a Con Rods weight, or the absolute weight of machined connecting rods. One or more automated mill stations then mill the boss at the piston and/or crank end, and the part is de-burred. Units feature a modular design that can be setup as a stand-alone system, or easily integrated into existing production lines with automatic load, unload and transfer systems.
Other features include:
• Modular design to accommodate different con-rod types and sizes
• Manual or automatic part handling
• Chip removal systems
• Electro-mechanical, numerically controlled milling unit
• Digital tandem scales
• Microprocessor controlled measuring equipment for processing of measured values
• SPS machine control with fault diagnostics
• Reject part collection
• Statistics
• Highest production volumes

Con Rod Weight Classifier
[not shown]
On some (symmetric) engines weight correction may not be necessary if the raw part weight variation is within a small multiple of the tolerance. This is often the case for powder metal con rods. In this case con rods can be sorted into a number of classes to make sure that con rods with identical weight are assembled in the same engine. Basis of this type of machines is the same scaling technology as in weight mills and stand-alone scales.
