Schenck Balancing Machines for Brake
Components
This fully automatic vertical balancing machine is designed
for disc shaped rotors without t heir own shafts such as
brake discs, brake drums and flywheels. These versatile
systems allow simple changeover to other rotor types by
either manually or automatically changing work piece
adapters. Unbalance correction is conducted by automatically
positioning the cutter at the proper location and milling
the rotor to the exact depth necessary. A three-jaw chuck
absorbs the milling forces during correction and, if
necessary, can turn the rotor as the cut is being made to
form a groove in the swiveled lens.

This concept combines measurement, milling and control in
one station and is integrated with the production line with
a dual-arm exchange transporter. The mixed operation allows
multiple flywheel types to be corrected to the smallest
unbalance tolerances in only two steps.
This two-station machine with lifter and swing transporting
device is designed to measure the initial unbalance in the
measuring station. Unbalance correction and measurement of
residual unbalance is then performed in the milling station.
Mixing the sequences improves cycle time performance.
